I am not a huge fan of nippers & wasn't trained much on how to really use them & frankly, would prefer not to (for fear of "nippin" someone..pun intended..hehe), but from what I see (pics/vids) soooooo many women have very red, swollen eponychiums.. a lot of times cut/bleeding.. eekkkk.

or their cuticles are pushed so far back & so deep under the eponychium.

My question is... What is normal??  Clearly what I've described cannot be normal yet soooooo many techs do it.

swollen, red and bleeding are not normal haha.. as long as you are soaking the cuticles that helps soften them for removal, but if you aren't going to use a nipper I would just push them back and try to maybe remove them with an orange wood stick. Maybe try practicing cutticle cuticles on yourself. Trust me the more practice you have the better you get and when people get mani's they expect to have their cuticles removed! :) Hope this helps a little even though I am sure you already know all of this :)
Hi Nikki!! Thank you so much for your reply!! I really appreciate it!! Yes, I do know all that.. hehe, but I did practice on myself & yes, that helped a LOT!!! Thanks so much!!! ;)
use a cuticle remove and push them back, just off the nail bed, this doesn't require alot of pressure and shouldn't hurt. As for nippers, they're fine, just make sure that they are sharp enough to cut, and not pull the cuticle. It's also a good practice to only nip the pieces that are "waving". Hope this helps
Hi Shannon!! Thank you so much for your reply!! That is good advice.. "waving".. Yes, that helped a LOT!!! Gave me a better idea of what I'm looking for! Thank you so much!!! ;)
